A small boat was swamped.
One of her crew of two got ashore unaided.

AUG. 19TH. - SELSEY, SUSSEX. It had been reported that a rowing boat was drifting out to sea with a man on board shouting for help, but the life-boat could find nothing.- Rewards, £11 15s..
SEPT. 1ST. - SENNEN COVE, CORNWALL.
A bather had got into difficulties in a rough sea, but the life-boat could find no sign of him and he was believed to have been drowned. - Rewards, £6 7s. 6d..
OCT. 7TH. - STROMNESS, ORKNEYS.
Distress signals had been reported, and the life-boat was out for nine hours in a strong gale, with a rough sea, but found nothing.
