The Silver Scale, of North Sunderland

SEPTEMBER 2ND. - NORTH SUNDERLAND, NORTHUMBERLAND. At 3.59 in the afternoon information was received from the coastguard that a fishing coble was on fire two miles east of Cullernose Point. A light southerly wind was blowing and the sea was smooth. The motor life-boat W.R.A. was launched at 4.8 and found the Silver Scale, of North Sunderland, with four on board. She was not on fire, but her engine had broken down and she had burned a flare to attract the attention of another fishing boat. The life-boat towed her home, arriving at 6.30.- Rewards, £10 17s..
