The Danish Motor Ketch Viking

OCTOBER 14TH. - BERWICK - ON - TWEED, NORTHUMBERLAND. At 10.56 in the morning the coastguard reported a vessel aground on Spittal Point. The northerly breeze was light, but there was a heavy swell. The motor life-boat J. and W. was launched at eleven o’clock and found the Danish motor ketch Viking, on a pleasure cruise from Copenhagen, with two on board.

She took them off. In doing it she touched the sand, and was thrown against the ketch and damaged. She landed the two men at Berwick at 11.35. When it was seen later that the Viking had refloated, the life-boat put out again at noon and towed her in, arriving at 1.30 that afternoon. A letter of appreciation was received from the owner.- Rewards, £8 11s.
