Pride of Lambay, of Dublin

JUNE 2ND. - ARKLOW, CO. WICKLOW.

Just before midnight on the 1st of June information was received that a boat had disappeared. The fishing boat Pride of Lambay, of Dublin, had towed a boat to Arklow and had been left tied up at the jetty while her crew got a meal before returning home. When they came back they found their boat gone. She had been taken without permission by two men who wanted to cross to England. As it appeared that the men, if they were inexperienced, would be in danger, the motor life-boat Inbhear Mor was launched at 12.15 in the morning of the 2nd.

A moderate north-westerly wind was blowing, with a moderate sea. The life-boat found the boat about four miles south-east of Arklow pier. The men had been unable to start the engine or to set sail. The life-boat towed her back, arriving at 1.35. - Rewards, £10 11s..
