At 1.15 in the afternoon the coastguard telephoned that a fishing coble was showing a signal of distress three miles east of Holy Island. The motor life-boat Milburn was launched at 1.40, in a light north-westerly wind, with a swell. She found the coble Ocean Maid, of Holy Island, with her engine broken down.
