Jessica, of Newhaven

OCTOBER 3RD. - NEWHAVEN, SUSSEX.

At 8.50 at night a message was received from the Southern Railway Company that a small yacht had fired distress signals off the east pier. A west-north-west breeze was blowing, with a choppy sea. The motor life-boat Cecil and Lilian Philpott was launched at 9.35, and found the motor yacht Jessica, of Newhaven, one mile south of the harbour. She had two on board. Her engines had broken down. The life-boat towed her to Newhaven and returned to her station at 10.30. - Rewards, £19 17s..
