At 2.25 in the afternoon the coastguard reported a fishing boat making distress signals two miles south-east of the coastguard station. A gentle south-westerly breeze was blowing, and the sea was smooth. The motor life-boat Michael Stephens was launched at 2.45 and found the motor fishing boat Don’t Know.
