A Small Sailing Boat (1)

AUGUST 16TH. - SELSEY, SUSSEX. At 12.12 in the afternoon the coastguard telephoned that two persons were clinging to a small sailing boat which had capsized. A moderate easterly breeze was blowing, the sea was smooth, but it was raining hard. The motor life-boat Canadian Pacific was launched at 12.25. She found the boat about a mile off the Marine Hotel, Selsey, but just before she arrived the man and boy who had been in the sailing boat had been picked up by a motor boat. As, however, the motor boat was unable to tow the sailing boat, the lifeboat towed them both close to the land and then returned to her station, arriving at 1.30.
