A Small Boat (4)

JUNE 2ND. - RAMSGATE, KENT. Early in the morning the owner of the Guildford Hotel, Sandwich, reported to the police that his son and another boy had put out in a small boat the previous night. They had not returned, and the boat could be seen a mile off shore. A strong south-south-west breeze was blowing, with a rough sea. About five o’clock the honorary secretary of the life-boat station received the information from the Ramsgate coastguard, and the motor life-boat Mary Scott, on temporary duty at the station, was launched at 5.18. She found the boat in danger of capsizing and the boys exhausted and frightened. She took the boys on board, and, with their boat in tow, reached Ramsgate again at 6.2. - Rewards, £9 2s. 9d..
