At 2.30 in the afternoon the local doctor asked for the services of the life-boat to take to Oban a young girl who was ill with appendicitis and in a critical condition. The motor life-boat Sir Arthur Rose took her and a nurse. She reached Oban at 6.15 and got back to her station at 10.20 that night. She had saved the life of the girl, who was operated on at once.
