Melrose, of Galway
AUGUST 21ST. - GALWAY BAY. At 2.45 in the afternoon information was received from the coast life-saving service at Casla that the motor boat Melrose, of Galway, was on the rocks in Casla Bay. A moderate south-easterly breeze was blowing, with a rough sea. The motor life-boat K.E.C.F.
was launched at 2.56, and found the Melrose ashore on a reef ten miles north-north-east of the life-boat station. She was nearly full of water, and her crew of three were exhausted.
The men were given biscuits and rum, and the life-boat towed the boat clear of the reef and took her to Rosaveel, arriving back at her station at 9.30 that night. - Rewards, £13 16s..
