About 5.30 in the afternoon the coxswain received information from the coastguard that a fishing boat was flying a signal and appeared in need of help. A light north-by-west wind was blowing and the sea was smooth. The motor life-boat Louise Stephens was launched at 5.52 and found the motor fishing boat John and Sarah, of Great Yarmouth, with a crew of two.
