M . the owner of the Skibbereen motor fishing boat Safe Return reported that his boat, with a crew of three, was five hours overdue, and the motor lifeboat Shamrock was launched at 9.5 P.M. A N.E. wind was blowing, with a rough sea, and the night was dark, with rain. The life-boat found the fishing boat six miles S.W. of Baltimore harbour. Her engine had failed, and with an auxiliary sail she was trying to make port against a head wind. The life-boat towed her in, arriving at 11.15 P.M. - Rewards, £11 4s.
