A British Anson Aeroplane (2)
NOVEMBER 6TH. - ABERYSTWYTH, CARDIGANSHIRE, AND BARMOUTH, MERIONETHSHIRE. A British Anson aeroplane had crashed into the sea and both life-boats were launched. The Aberystwyth boat put out without waiting for the secondcoxswain and assistant motor-mechanic, and in addition to the five regular members of the crew on board she took a police sergeant, and five men of the R.A.F. with signalling apparatus.
A strong wind was blowing, with a rough sea. On her way out she passed a motor boat which told the coxswain that shehad picked up three airmen, one alive and two dead. Two others were missing. The Aberystwyth life-boat searched, but no trace of them could be found, and the Barmouth life-boat was recalled before she had gone far.
Rewards, Aberystwyth, £14 11s. 6d. ; Barmouth, £19 14s. 6d.
