The Mine-sweeping Trawler Nodzu

OCTOBER 6TH. - CULLERCOATS , NORTHUMBERLAND. At about 11.26 A.M. the life-boat coxswain received a telephone message from the Blyth coastguard that a vessel was ashore about one mile south of St. Mary’s Island, and at 11.35 A.M. the motor life-boat Westmorland was launched.

The weather was foggy, with a light E.S.E. wind, and a slight swell. The life-boat foundthat the vessel was the mine-sweeping trawler Nodzu, and stood by. After about an hour the trawler came off without help as the tide rose, and made for harbour escorted by the life-boat, which arrived back at her station at 2.15 P.M. - Rewards, £14 14s. 6d..
