During the afternoon the naval authorities asked for the services of the life-boat to destroy a floating mine, and the motor life-boat E.M.E.D. was launched at 3.35 P.M. A coastguard and a naval rating were on board with a gun. The sea was moderate with a light S.S.E. breeze.

After they had sunk the mine the life-boat returned to her station at 5.20 P.M. - Expenses paid by the Admiralty.
