FEBRUARY 21ST. - PETERHEAD, ABERDEENSHIRE. At 10.40 A.M. t h e coastguard reported a light E. by S. of Peterhead, and later reported that it was still to be seen, drifting northward. A fresh N.E. breeze was blowing with a moderate sea.

The motor life-boat Julia Park Barry of Glasgow was launched at 1.45 AM. and found the smack Merite. She was rolling in the swell about a mile off the coast, and had lost her bearings. The light which the coastguard had seen was on deck and was not a signal for help. The life-boat gave the M e r i t e her position, and she made for Aberdeen, while the life-boat returned to her station, arriving at 4.30 A.M - Rewards, £13 3s. 6d.
