AUGUST 30TH. - APPLEDORE, DEVON.

At 3.45 P.M. a message was received from the resident naval officer at Appledore, that an aeroplane had crashed into the sea between the Bar and Haire Point off Saunton Sands, and the motor life-boat Violet Armstrong was launched at 3.35 P.M. A moderate N.W. breeze was blowing and the sea was smooth.

The life-boat found the body of an airman, and her crew attempted to revive him, hut without success. The life-boat returned to her station at 5.40 P.M. - Rewards, £4 17s. 6d..
