IVES, CORNWALL.At 3.13 A.M. a message was received from the coastguard that a vessel was on fire, and at 4.20 A.M. the motor life-boat Caroline Oates Aver and William Maine was launched. The wind was light and the sea smooth. All that the life-boat found was a large quantity of wreckage. The ship had disappeared, but the life-boat found another steamer, the Amiens, of Swansea, which had been attacked and disabled. A naval escort vessel was standing by. The life-boat took off two slightly injured men and landed them. Afterwards the Amiens sank, and her crew were landed by the naval vessel.
