The Danish Motor Vessel Axel

FEBRUARY 12TH. - PETERHEAD, ABERDEENSHIRE. At 12.25 A.M. a message was received from the coastguard that rockets had been seen two miles S.E. by E. A strong E.N.E. wind was blowing, with a rough sea. It was snowing heavily.

At 12.40 A.M. the motor life-boat Julia Park Barry of Glasgow was launched and found the Danish motor vessel Axel driving fast towards the rocks two miles south of Peterhead.

With difficulty a rope was passed between the Axel and the life-boat, and made fast just as the Axel was going on the rocks.

The life-boat towed her, and her crew of six, into the harbour, and returned to her station at 4 A.M. - Property salvage case.
