JANUARY 3RD. - FRASERBURGH ABERDEENSHIRE. At 9.58 A.M. a message was received from the coastguard that vessel had been mined ten miles N.E. from Kinnaird Head. A N.W. wind was blowing, with a very heavy ground swell. At 10.5 A.M the motor life-boat John and Charles Kennedy was launched. The life-boat met H.M. Oak which had on board eleven survivors from the Swedish cargo steamer Svarton, Stockholm. The steamer had sunk, and twenty of her crew had been lost. The lifeboat took on board the eleven rescued men and landed them at Fraserburgh at 11.20 A.M
