OCTOBER 28TH. - SKEGNESS, LINCOLNSHIRE.

At about 2 A.M. the coastguard telephoned that a British bomber had crashed n e a r S k e g n e s s P i e r . A l i g h t , v a r i a b l e northerly wind was blowing, and the sea was smooth. The motor life-boat Anne Allen was launched at 2.50 A.M. She picked up the body of a dead airman, and brought it ashore. Then she continued the search, but no trace of the other three airmen could be found. She returned ashore at 8.5 A.M. - Rewards, £21 9s. 6d..
