JULY 5TH. - MARGATE, KENT. At 3.30 P.M. a message was received from the coastguard that a rubber boat had been seen one and a half miles off St. Mildred’s Bay, Westgate. A light north-westerly breeze was blowing, and the sea was smooth. At 3.45 P.M. the motor life-boat The Lord Southborough (Civil Service No. 1) was launched and she found a dinghy, but no one was on board.
