DE C . 1 S T . - MARGATE, KENT. At 10.55 A.M. the coastguard telephoned that a vessel was sinking as a result of enemy action three miles S.S.W. of the Tongue Light-vessel.

A fresh S.W. breeze was blowing, with a rough sea. The motor life-boat The Lord Southborough (Civil Service No. 1) was launched at11.15 A.M. and found the S.S. Dalryan, of Newcastle, sinking fast. Going alongside, the life-boat rescued the crew, with their belongings, and a pilot, a total of thirty-nine men.
