Janet
FEB. 27TH. - THURSO, CAITHNESSSHIRE.
During the afternoon the life-boat coxswain, returning from fishing, picked up the motor fishing boat Janet, of Thurso, with her engine broken down, about nine miles north-west of the Ruff of Brims. A strong W.S.W. breeze was blowing, with a heavy sea and snow showers. The coxswain took the Janet in tow, but after about an hour the towrope parted. As no more ropes were available the coxswain went to Scrabster and called out the life-boat crew. At 4.10 P.M. the motor life-boat H.C.J. was launched, picked up the Janet three miles north of Holborn Head, and towed her into Scrabster Harbour, which was reached at 5.45 P.M.-Rewards, £11 3s..
