‘You bet!’ That’s what a group of local lads said when challenged to undertake a gruelling bike ride from Arbroath to Dobbies at Ethiebeaton Park – and back – late last summer. Their combined pedal-power raised a whopping £563, which was presented to Arbroath lifeboat crew. Lifeboat Operations Manager, Alex Smith, expressed his gratitude saying: ‘We are lucky enough to receive donations raised in all manner of imaginative ways, but this is certainly up there with the most energetic!’ He added: ‘The money will go directly to making sure our crew continues to be well trained and equipped for going to sea.’
