BEHIND EVERY RESCUE IS SOMEONE LIKE YOU

Leaving a gift to the RNLI in your Will is your legacy of care to millions of people who use our coast each year, from children playing on the beach, to fishing crews who battle the seas to put a fresh catch on the table

You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a legacy – every sum left to the RNLI puts diesel in our lifeboats, wellies on our crews’ feet and warm, dry blankets back at the station.

RNLI supporter Peter Harrison (pictured above) fundraises in Cornwall, where he spent many happy seaside holidays as a youngster. ‘I’m concerned to know everyone gets back safely from a rescue. The volunteers have families who wait and hold their breath until everyone is back to shore in one piece.

‘I’ve put a gift to the RNLI in my Will because what they do is so brave and so deserving of support. And it’s important for me to know my money will be spent wisely. It will be turned into training for lifeboat crew at the RNLI’s college in Poole, where volunteers learn to cope in extreme situations at sea. It will buy the kit every crew member needs – safety helmet, drysuit, lifejacket, reinforced wellies. It will buy the ropes to pull people from the sea, or to help crew leap onto boats in rough seas.’
