Star-studded postcard sale raises £3,000
An auction of anonymous postcard-sized artwork raised over £3,000 for the RNLI at the Margate Harbour Arm gallery on 11 September.
Celebrities, professional artists and amateurs contributed to the 100 pieces up for auction – and bidders were not told who had created what until after the event.
As one of the biggest names in the art world, the presence of a work from Tracey Emin generated a lot of interest. Another celebrity contributor, Actor Martin Clunes, said: ‘Being very familiar with the work of the RNLI, I know that the professionalism of its volunteer lifeboat crews has been honed down to a fine art, so I am only too happy to lend my creative flair to the Margate art auction.’
Pictured are postcard pieces by Martin Clunes, Tracey Emin, Vic Reeves and Zandra Rhodes. Can you guess which is which? Answers are on page 45.
