Farewell to Andrew

RNLI Chief Executive Andrew Freemantle retired in September after 10 years’ service.

During his time at the RNLI, Andrew led on the creation and introduction of the world’s first Lifeboat College; a world-class lifeguard service on over 140 UK beaches; several inland lifeboat stations, including four on the River Thames; the international Flood Rescue team; hovercraft to the fleet; and the RNLI memorial sculpture (see pages 19–22) for which he, personally, raised over £60,000 by cycling from Poole to Rome.

Find out more about Andrew’s successor, Paul Boissier, in the next issue.
