Queensferry- Scotland Division
Queensferry's Atlantic 21 lifeboat station is another which is easily found by reference to a famous structure, as clearly shown on the left! The station itself is at the very bottom of the photo, at the landward end of the pier to the left of the Forth Rail Bridge, a pier which was used for the ferry until the opening of the road bridge in 1964.
The photos were taken at about three-quarter tide, at low water the pier end dries although the lifeboat can still launch. The pier is in two sections, with a central spine wall, so by choosing the east or west side some protection is usually available from the weather.
