Members of Uttoxer Ladies' Guild made the most of their local festival by entering a 'float' in the procession.

A 'float' was an appropriate name, as they borrowed a publicity inshore lifeboat from their regional office, and the sight of the lifeboat being towed down the high street - around 100 miles from the nearest lifeboat station - apparently caused quite a stir.
