Two lifeboats from Moelfre save fishing boat and crew service by Moelfre's two lifeboats has led framed letters of appreciation signed by chairman of the RNLI for Helmsman Rodney Pace and crew member Anthony Barclay of the D class inshore lifeboat.

At0630on22July 1990 the station learned the fishing vessel Steel Venture was aground on rocks just north of Benllech, and class, with Helmsman Rodney Pace Anthony Barclay aboard, was launched breaking waves and a Force 5 wind.

Reaching the casualty some 20 minutes the lifeboat crew found the fishing With Integrity standing by and after assessing the situation requested the services of the all-weather lifeboat. The casualty asked to be towed off the rocks, so a messenger line was taken from With Integrity and the lifeboat veered stern-first towards Steel Venture. Although a large wave struck the lifeboat, driving her into Steel Venture, crew member Anthony Barclay successfully passed the messenger line and Helmsman Pace moved away from the casualty to establish a tow with With Integrity .

She was able to pull Steel Venture clear of the rocks and towards the Menai Straits, escorted by the all-weather lifeboat..
