OCTOBER 1990 RearAdmiral Sir Edmund Irving KBE CB, elected to the Committee of Management in 1965 (having previously served as an ex-officio member from 1960 to 1966 when Hydrographer of the Navy). Admiral Irving was appointed a Vice-President in 1972 and a Life Vice-President in 1985. He gave long and distinguished service to the RNLI. mainly on the Boat Committee which he joined in 1960 and of which he was chairman from 1969 to 1978.
