Philip Denham Helmsman of One of Blackpool's Two D Class Lifeboats

Philip Denham, helmsman of one of Blackpool's two D class lifeboats, joined the crew in 1977.

He was awarded a bronze medal in 1988 for gallantry in recognition of the courage, skill and determination he displayed whilst helmsman of D300 which rescued the sole occupant of the motor boat Dijon in difficulties one and a quarter miles northnorth- west of the lifeboat station. In 1989 he was awarded a long service badge.

Philip is married with three children and is employed as a beach patrolman. His hobby is lifeboating!.
