Helping hand for youngsters The Ocean Youth Club's 70ft training vessel Francis Drake is pictured being given a helping hand by Ramsey's Oakley James Ball Ritchie on 8 August, 1988.

The yacht's auxiliary engine had failed and she was unable to enter harbour for repairs. With the weather forecast to deteriorate, the tide already ebbing and with 14 of the yacht's 18 crew young and with limited experience it was decided to launch the lifeboat to help her in.

She was towed into Ramsey where her engine was repaired.
