62 (Cyprus) Support Squadron Royal Engineers chose to support the RNLI as their charity for 1986 and collected £1,500 from various fund raising events. These included a dutch auction and a car boot sale organised by the Squadron Wives Club, and the major event of the year's fund raising, a raft race.

Over 50 teams entered from all over the island, nearly all completing the three-quarter mile course, resulting in £1,000 being raised.
