William F. G. Lord, QBE, BL, who was secretary and treasurer of Edinburgh branch from 1950 to 1964 and then secretary until 1976. Mr Lord became vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of the Scottish Lifeboat Council in 1966, a position he held until 1985.

From 1971 to 1979 Mr Lord served on the RNLI's committee of management and from 1975 to 1980 he was one of two vice-conveners of the Scottish Lifeboat Council. He was awarded the silver badge in 1962 and made an honorary life governor in 1981..
