Modifications: Coxswain Kenneth Henry (I) is seen about to strike the first blow in the demolition of the old crew assembly room to make way for a new building. It is all part of a £650,000 project at Aith lifeboat station (Shetland) where a breakwater is being built to provide a berth for a new Arun class lifeboat.

Shetland Islands Council have provided grants for £500,000 towards the cost of the work.

Pictured with Coxswain Henry is Janice Blewitt, resident site engineer for the RNLI's consultants, Messrs Lewis and Duvivier..
