Coxswain David Clemence of Ilfracombe who was presented with a bronze medal at the awards ceremony on May 21 by the Duke of Atholl. Coxswain Clemence joined the lifeboat crew in 1954; he served as second coxswain for just three months before being appointed coxswain in July 1972.
