Mr John Stockley, a founder member of the Stockport Crew of Lifeboat Auxiliaries, and a long-serving member of the Manchester Executive committee.

Mr Stockley joined Stockport branch in 1938 and the Stockport 'Crew' in 1948, he served as chairman and secretary of the branch from 1946 to 1953 and as treasurer of the 'Crew' from 1957 to 1974. Mr Stockley was awarded a gold badge in 1972 and the bar to the gold badge in 1982..
