Dover: On Saturday September 10, 1983, a day of north-westerly gales and rough seas, Dover's 50ft Thames lifeboat Rotary Service, under the command of Coxswain/Assistant Mechanic Anthony Hawkins, was just returning to harbour from one service when she was diverted to the yacht Tomaray, in difficulties five miles east of Dover; one of the yacht's crew of three was suffering from severe sea sickness.
