Newquay (Cornwall): In beautiful weather on Sunday August 12, Father Donald Smith, station honorary chaplain, conducts the service of dedication of the new 17ft 6in C class inflatable lifeboat provided by clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football Union. She was handed over by Mr John Kendall-Carpenter, a past president of the Union, present president of Cornwall Rugby Union and one-time England international and captain. Accepted on behalf of the RNLI by Lt-Cdr Jeremy Tetley, a vice-president of the Institution, she was delivered into the care of Newquay station branch.
