Eight years worth of beard was shaved off Gordon Peters and Ray Chapman in front of a large crowd at the Country House Hotel in Ellacombe, Torquay, by local hairdresser Steve Siampourou. The reason was that £231 had been offered for the RNLI if these two men were prepared to lose their whiskers.

Money may not grow on trees but it obviously can on chins.
