The Duke of Atholl, the RNLI's chairman, meets members of the Lake District branch aboard a steam-boat at Windermere Steam-Boat Museum. The branch held a two-week fund-raising drive to coincide with Windermere Festival. Shepherds, a firm of boalbuilders, lent its forecourt to display an inflatable lifeboat where collectors stood dailv.

A family barbecue and flag dav were also organised bv the branch and the total proceeds amounted to £1,476. {Top left) David Jones, regional organiser (NW).
