Appledore ladies' guild celebrated 50 years of service in 1982. The guild was formed in 1931 and the photograph on the left was taken of the committee members in 1932. Haifa century on and (below left) are the members of the presentday committee who carry on the same fine tradition. One lady, Miss E. M. Moberly, was honorary secretary for the greater part of those years, from 1933 until 1979 when she retired because of ill health; she was awarded the gold badge in 1970..
