Daniel Norman was accorded the thanks of the Institution inscribed on vellum for the rescue of a girl swept into the sea off Watchet on September 12, 1981; the service was reported in the spring 1982 issue of THE LIFEBOAT. After the presentation of the vellum last June, Helmsman Kevin Escott took Daniel for a trip in Minehead's Atlantic 21 rigid inflatable lifeboat.
