Tractor service THE HONORARY SECRETARY of St Ives lifeboat station was informed at 1025 on Monday November 19, 1979, that the fishing boat William Harvey had a man on board with a badly injured finger. At first it was thought that the fishing boat could get close enough inshore for the man to be taken straight off, but when she arrived of St Ives at 1050 it was found that there was too much swell.

The fishing boat was asked to come inshore until she touched bottom, when the station's tractor was driven alongside and the injured man taken ashore to be driven to hospital by the honorary secretary..
