Salt water cure TWO DOCTORS from the local hospital came to Aberystwyth inshore lifeboat house on the evening of Tuesday April 10; they were looking for a boat to go out into deep water to collect a gallon or so of good, clean salt water needed urgently for the treatment of a nineyear- old boy critically ill with pneumonia.

As it was approaching low tide no shore boat could be used and darkness was approaching, so the D class inflatable lifeboat, manned by Helmsman Alan Blair and Crew Members Brian Pugh Jones and Thomas Ridgway, was launched. She returned with the water at 2015 and was rehoused by 2020.

Treatment with this vaporised sea water was successful and the boy's health improved..
