Last October, Jimmy Savile, QBE, received the public relations statuette awarded to him for his most valuable help to the lifeboat service from Vice-Admiral Sir Peter Compston, a deputy chairman of the Institution. The presentation was made at the Polygon Hotel, Southampton, by courtesy of Hoover and Proctor and Gamble who were sponsoring Jimmy on a run to help the Year of the Child and Help the Aged.
