On March 20 in a strong west-south-westerly breeze, Newhaven's 44ft Waveney lifeboat Louis Marches! of Round Table went to the help of the barge Dunord which, on passage from Lowestoft to Poole, was aground one mile west ofBeachy Head with engine failure. On April 16 the lifeboat was again called out to Dunord, once more with engine failure; she had broken down two miles south west of Newhaven. On each occasion the lifeboat towed the barge into Newhaven Harbour. photograph by courtesy of 'Brighton Evening Argus'.
